Co-Creating Sustainable Fishing Solutions in Iceland

MeCCAM, together with the MarineGuardian and Infinifish projects, held a stakeholder workshop in Iceland to present ongoing case study work and engage industry, administration, and research representatives in the development of sustainable fisheries tools.

Project Overview

MeCCAM, in collaboration with the EU Horizon projects MarineGuardian and Infinifish, hosted a stakeholder workshop bringing together Icelandic actors from the fishing industry, administration, and research. Participants included Brim, Trackwell, Hampiðjan Group, Stika Solutions, and Matís Iceland.

The workshop focused on MeCCAM’s Northeast Atlantic and Iceland case studies, highlighting two key tools currently under development:

  • A fishing strategy optimisation decision-support tool
  • An environmental impact management software for the seafood value chain

The session aimed to raise awareness, exchange knowledge, and involve stakeholders directly in the co-creation and validation process of these tools, ensuring their relevance for sustainable fisheries management.
